The Civil Service Pensioners’ Alliance (CSPA) is seeking applications for the post of Assistant General Secretary (AGS). The post is full-time and the successful candidate will join the small HQ team at the CSPA office.

The CSPA is a membership organisation comprised mainly of retired civil servants. Recognised by the Cabinet Office, it represents individual members, provides bespoke services & benefits and campaigns on issues of concern to civil service pensioners, and older people in general.

Flexibility and approachability are key attributes of the role. A knowledge of Civil Service and State Pension issues would be advantageous, as would experience of working in campaigning and membership organisations.

The AGS is responsible for assisting the General Secretary and independently progressing areas of policy and campaigns, sometimes in partnership with like-minded organisations. The role involves some travel to present to members at local Group and Regional Meetings.

The AGS also provides Secretariat services to the Public Service Pensioners’ Council (PSPC), an umbrella organisation principally concerned with the protection of public service pensions.

The Annual Salary for the post is £41,600, with a generous annual leave allowance of 30 days, in addition to public holidays.

The closing date for applications will be Friday 19 October 2018. It is planned that interviews will be held during November 2018, with the successful candidate taking up the post during January 2019.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please contact the CSPA for an Application Form and Job Specification, either by telephone - 020 8688 8418 - or by email to marion.mcauliffe@cspa.co.uk or by post to Marion McAuliffe, Deputy Office Manager, CSPA, 8th floor, Grosvenor House, 125 High Street, Croydon, CR0 9XP.
